Hello Prison Mike, pleased to make your acquaintance. That alone puts this episode into the all-timers bracket, but then there’s that hyper-intense volleyball game, Charles Minor (Idris Elba) getting really competitive with Jim, and how none of it mattered when Pam and Jim found out she was pregnant. Michael Scott is guilty of some of TV’s cringiest moments, but I don’t know that they ever topped the horrific sketch comedy presentation from “Company Picnic,” one filled with an unfortunate recreation of scenes from Slumdog Millionaire and the news that another branch (in attendance with their families) was about to go under. Company Picnic (Season 5, Episode 28) NBC They showed us time and time again why these two needed to be together.Ĥ7. Greg Daniels and company didn’t just tell us this was a perfect pair, working backward to make the case. In so many shows, they get papered over by grand romance and big feelings, but it’s the show’s ability to highlight those that allow us to feel the Jim/Pam pairing so deeply. Those kinds of moments are like tiny magnets, drawing people closer and closer together. The charm of Michael showing off his savant-like schmooze skills is the same here as he puts on a clinic in boozy business lunch moves, but the episode makes it onto the list for that unforgettable stolen moment on the roof with Jim and Pam and then the stunning adorableness of them splitting a pair of earbuds. Predictably, things turn dirty, but Michael once again proves that underneath the facade of a complete jackass lives a complete jackass who has a system that works for him (and him alone) when it comes to his people person persona. The fight between Dunder Mifflin and Michael Scott Paper Company gets fierce, pitting Michael against Dwight. Heavy Competition (Season 5, Episode 24) NBC Jim and Pam’s fairytale coupling was built on a lot of romantic gestures - large and small - but the true measure of a relationship can sometimes come in those heavier times, such as this season 9 episode when Jim is trying very hard to make Pam happy, essentially using his considerable scheme powers to hijack a bus to blow off work and get some pie.Ĥ9. We can’t expect a show to continuously operate on a nosebleed level of comedic excellence (though The Office went on a few tears in its early years where it seemed possible) so while it’s critical that you re-watch and binge this show from time to time (it’s on Peacock) to awaken your appreciation for it, if you just don’t have the time right now or you just want to turn on a few favorites to celebrate reports of a reboot, here are the 50 best Office episodes to rewatch. If you’re an Office fan, those stand-out episodes probably involve elaborately planned pranks, fire drills gone wrong, dinner party disasters, and a B-list action film that just happens to take place within a TV show. Maybe they stand out because a beloved background character gets a chance to shine or a will-they-won’t-they couple finally makes good on some built-up sexual tension. It’s said that truly good TV shows age like fine wine, but even with a series as masterfully done and phenomenally funny as The Office, certain episodes tend to rise above the rest.
